Professor EmeritusDr. Ziegler is Professor Emeritus of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard for his Bachelor’s degree and received his M.D. degree from Harvard as well. After his internship at Boston City Hospital, he completed a Neurology residency also at Boston City Hospital. Following that, he was a staff psychiatrist for the US Navy prior to completing his neurology training at the Neurological Institute in New York.
In the 1950s, Dr. Ziegler was on the faculty at Montefiore Hospital in New York and the University of Minnesota Medical School prior to joining the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1958. He served as Chief of the Section of Neurology from 1966-1974, and then as Chair of the Department of Neurology from 1974-1985. Dr. Ziegler is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in migraine headaches. He also has a strong interest in other causes of headache.
Even though he is Professor Emeritus, Dr. Ziegler continues with his clinical and research work in migraine headaches and Professor’s Teaching Rounds. The residents look forward to his teaching rounds each week.
