November 2004

Congratulations to the Class of 04, Ky, Bridget and Cara all passed the ACC Board Certification exam this summer and are continuing on in their careers. Ky is working at Fort Riley, in Junction City, KS, Bridget is working in Trenton, MO, and Cara is working on having a beautiful baby in December. Cara has also co-authored with Ginger an upcoming article in the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health on Ovarian Cancer Screening and Detection, January 2005.

The Class of 05 is active in their Intrapartum/Postpartum and Newborn courses. Students have expanded clinical opportunities for births with previous KUSON graduates Jeanne Schroeder (02) and Susan Cohen (03) as well as Judie Wika.

The annual ACNM business meeting celebrated honors bestowed on our own: Denise Fryzelka, CNM Faculty award, Bridget Robinson, March of Dimes Nursing Scholarship award, and Catrice Brantley, ACNM Women of Color Student Scholarship. Congratulations to each!

We have four students attending part-time in the pipeline for Midwifery Education. At this time, start dates for the new 47 credit hour Nurse Midwifery core will begin in the Spring semester of even numbered years. All other master advanced practice courses can be taken any time leading to the midwifery core!
