Overview
The 12th anniversary “Midwife Means . . . With Woman” conference of Greater Kansas City Chapter V-18 of the American College of Nurse-Midwives will provide critical and timely information to women’s health care practitioners in the Central Midwest Region. The conference will showcase professional talents of nationally-recognized and regional nurse-midwives and their physician colleagues in the provision of women’s health care.
Target Audience
This course is designed for certified nurse-midwives, advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, doulas, childbirth educators, lactation specialists, as well as nursing, medical and advanced practice nursing students. The content may also be of use to family practitioners and obstetricians.
Objectives
At the completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
- Discuss psychosocial aspects and impact of sleep issues during the perinatal period.
- Identify how to foster healthy relationships related to the perinatal patient.
- Describe new gynecological treatments and apply knowledge into practice.
- Express knowledge of current issues in women’s health including contraceptive management.
- Promote awareness of methamphetamine use in pregnancy.
- Demonstrate evidence-based practice in the second stage of labor.
- Differentiate dermatologic conditions related to women’s health.
