Top 7 questions to determine if your mail can be presorted

All questions below need a YES answer in order to presort your mail:

1. Does it meet the USPS size requirements?
• Letter: Min 3 1/2" X 5", Max 6 1/8" X 11 ½"
• Postcard: Min 3 1/2" X 5", Max 4 1/4" X 6"
• Aspect Ratio must be between 1.3 and 2.5 (length divided by the height)


2. Is the weight of Piece less than 3 oz?



3. Is the piece less than 1/4" thick?



4. Is the Bar Code Clear Zone free of all extraneous information?
• No color or print in the area 5/8" from bottom and 4 3/4" inch from right of the piece


5. If it is a Self Mailer, is it tabbed correctly?
• Fold on Bottom = Center tab on top
• Fold on Top = 2 tabs on bottom, within 1" of sides


6. Is the address within the OCR read area?
• Minimum Height: 5/8" from the bottom
• Maximum Height: 2 3/4" from the bottom


7. Is the surface dull (not slick)?
