Some of the patients seen by KU Pediatrics.

The Division of Pediatric Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology provides specialized care for children with asthma, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), food allergies, urticaria (hives), drug allergies, atopic dermatitis (eczema), immune deficiencies, and other related disorders.

Goals of Care:

  • Prevent symptoms.
  • Maintain a normal lifestyle and school attendance.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding disease prevention measures and treatment.
  • Enlist the family as an active partner in the health care plan of the patient.
  • Achieve and maintain maximal improvement in lung function for asthmatics through spirometry (lung function testing), peak flow monitoring, skin testing, and other modalities.

We feel that it is best for your child if we can work together, starting early in the course of your child's illness, to keep your child's illness under control -- thus avoiding costly hospital admissions and visits to emergency departments.
