Pediatric Infectious Diseases

Some of the patients seen by KU Pediatrics.

We treat a broad range of pediatric infectious diseases, including:

  • Community-acquired infections,
  • Hospital-acquired infections,
  • Infections in immunocompromised children,
  • Infections in chronically ill children,
  • Infections caused by resistant organisms, and
  • Infections in refugee and immigrant children.

We offer antimicrobial therapies for infectious diseases caused by bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic agents. We specialize in infections that are unique to children and differ from those in adults. We offer the expertise needed to diagnose and manage these diseases.

There are only a few Pediatric Infectious Disease specialists in the state of Kansas; we have two here at KUMC.
