Children At Risk Evaluation

Some of the patients seen by KU Pediatrics.

Child abuse is, unfortunately, a part of our world.  It strikes anyone, anywhere, anytime.  It knows no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.  It strikes without warning, leaving scarred children in its wake.   It is one of the most difficult challenges facing those who care for and about children.

Sunflower house. Sunflower House is now seeing any pediatric patients who are referred to KU for possible abuse. Healthcare providers who want to refer children for a child abuse medical evaluation at Sunflower House should contact the law enforcement agency where the child resides or the KC Metro Social and Rehabilitation Services reporting office (1-866-215-9077). The assigned police officer or SRS caseworker should be informed of the healthcare provider's request to make a referral to Sunflower House for a medical evaluation. If there are any questions regarding this process, please contact Dr. Kay Farley or Stephanie Strout, Physician Assistant, at Sunflower House: 913-631-5800.
