Large city, small town:

Union station on the KC night skyline.

View of the beautiful Plaza at night. Straddling the Kansas-Missouri state border, the Kansas City metropolitan area includes 136 cities, spans eleven counties, is home to nearly 2 million citizens, and covers approximately the same area as the state of Connecticut.

Yet, for its size and all the amenities you will find here, our city still maintains some of the charm of its humbler roots.  When people move here from other parts of the country, they are often astounded by the kind manners of our citizens.  When merging into traffic, you have a good chance that someone will slow down and let you in.  Not many metropolitan areas can say that.

Having lunch at a conference. One advantage of living in the Kansas City area is low cost. Kansas City sports one of the most economical living expenses in the nation. People moving to our area are astounded by the low cost of housing, food and general merchandise. Those of you who currently live in the midwest already know about the low cost of living.

Our residents and staff love children. All of these factors make Kansas City a wonderful place to raise a family, as many of our residents and staff can attest.
