Let's cut right to the chase, shall we? While amenities are nice, if you can't put food on the table it's all a moot point. Here are the stipend amounts for the coming year, along with last year's figures for comparison:

Fees:

The department pays annual KU Medical Center student activity fees and library assessment charges. The department will pay for all training license fees, including DEA, during residency.

Health Insurance Coverage:

Single and family coverage is provided, including 50-100 percent dental coverage, depending on plan chosen. Vision coverage is available.

Professional Liability Insurance:

The State of Kansas provides this insurance, which applies to education activities approved by the Dean of the School of Medicine.

Membership:

Candidate membership in the American Academy of Pediatrics is provided by the Kansas Chapter of the AAP during the intern year, and by the Department thereafter.

Professional Funds:

  • PL-1: Educational Fund
  • PL-2 and 3: Authorized travel for scientific meetings plus an Educational Fund

Leave:

  • 15 days vacation annually.
  • 10 days sick leave annually.
