| Hi, my name is Dr. ______________________.
I am a pediatrician from the KU Childrens Center. I am here
today to give out an award for PRIDE. PRIDE
stands for "Pediatricians Recognizing Individuals Demonstrating
Excellence." The PRIDE award is given
to a student who works hard in school and does things for other people
that is called Community Service. We looked all over Kansas for
a winner, and found that person right here at <name of school>.
There are some other people here who work with me at the KU Medical Center and look! Here comes the JayDoc! [JayDoc to perform.] The JayDoc is here to help recognize a young [man/lady] who has [describe reason for winning]. Congratulations [name of child]! [Announce prizes.] Please accept these as a small token of our appreciation for your efforts. [Bring up parents.] [Bring up principal, give certificate and copy of letter to winner.] <Name of principal>, I would like to give you this certificate to recognize your school as a PRIDE school. We hope that you will proudly put it up here at [name of school]. [Thank sponsors that are in attendance.] Kids, we here at the KU Childrens Center want you to know that everyone here can win PRIDE. Work hard at school and help other people get involved in community service. We want to come back to [name of school]. [Allow time for pictures and for media to speak with the winner.]
Presentations should take about ten minutes. Total time in school should be around twenty-five minutes, including getting to the classroom, presenting the award, media time and getting back out of school. Make sure the parents leave with:
Remind them about FOX 4 Morning Show the following morning. Thank and congratulate the child, parent(s), and principal! This is a wonderful PR opportunity for your institution. |
