Community Events

During the first week of March, the Health Hawk team participated in the Rosedale Congregation after school program. We talked about reading food labels and why it is important to look at the amount of fats and sugars that are in the food that we eat. We had so much fun and hope all the kids did as well!

At the end of February, the Healthy Hawk team went to John Fiske Elementary to read books to three kindergarten classes. We learned about eating different kinds of fruits and how to listen to your tummy when it is hungry and full!

In October of 2009, the Healthy Hawks team joined Univision at a health fair at the

West Wyandotte Public Library. We screened BMI for both children and adults that

attended the health fair and talked about our Healthy Hawk program.

Every October, Healthy Hawks partners with Heart to Heart International for their annual free health fair in Kansas City. This year we provided BMI screenings and discussed eating healthy on a budget!
