Department of Pediatrics  :  Divisions  :  Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Healthy

 

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit provides the highest level of care to critically ill or injured children of all ages staffed by pediatric Intensivists, pediatric trainee and experienced pediatric nurses for patients 24 hours per day in 6-bed unit with an estimated 600 admissions per year.

Our division is both family-centered and multidisciplinary in approach. Parents and providers from many clinical services are members of a team that provide efficient, cost effective care, resulting in better clinical outcomes overall and greater success in treating patients.

Education

The Division of Pediatric Critical Care is committed to training residents in the field of pediatrics. Our residency training program prepares physicians for successful careers in academic and clinical pediatric field. Also medical students from University of Kansas School of Medicine rotate in our pediatric ICU on a monthly basis.
