Work was based at a local hospital with an emphasis on outreach in surrounding villages and schools. Also researched, wrote, compiled information for, and coordinated the distribution of a book of primary school health lessons that was subsequently used by volunteers and teachers throughout the country. All work was carried out in French or Obamba, the local Bantu dialect.

  • As a Peace Corps Volunteer:
    • As a Health Educator in Central Africa, I gave over 100 presentations to very diverse audiences (school children from pre-school to high school, mothers with infant children, villagers, and city and county officials) on different health topics. These included AIDS awareness, family planning, nutrition, hygiene, first aid, and others. All were carried out in French or Obamba, the local Bantu dialect.
