The Kidney Institute members number 33 and represent the specialties of Nephrology, Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, Anatomy and Physiology.

Dr. Jared Grantham, Kidney Institute Director Emeritus, was awarded the first ever Lillian Jean Kaplan Prize given jointly by the International Society of Nephrology and the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation for research into polycysic kidney disease.
Dr. Jared Grantham has also received the Homer Smith Award by the American Society of Nephrology
L. Darryl Quarles, MD, became the second Kidney Institute Director in March 2004.
