MVAC in Organ-Confined Bladder Cancer Based on p53 Status
Phase III, NCI, Activated 8/20/99

Eligibility Requirements:

Disease Characteristics

Must have undergone radical cystectomy and bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy with pathologic stage from the definitive cystectomy specimen of P1, P2a, P2b (or P0 or PIS with TURBT T1, T2a/b), N0, M0 transitional cell carcinoma with or without squamous/glandular differentiation

Potentially curable as judged by the investigator

Prior/Concurrent Therapy

No systemic chemotherapy within past 5 years

No prior systemic chemotherapy for bladder cancer

No prior pelvic irradiation

Must register within 9 weeks from date of surgery

Patient Characteristics

No serious arrhythmias or congestive disease

No previous or concomitant malignancies except incidental prostate cancer found at cystectomy, basal or squamous cell skin, or cervical in-situ, unless occurred >5 years prior and without evidence for recurrence

No age restrictions
