A Randomized Phase III Study of Tumor Volume Directed Pelvic Plus or Minus Para-Aortic Irradiation Followed by Cisplatin and Doxorubicin or Cisplatin, Doxorubicin and Paclitaxel for Advanced Endometrial Carcinoma

Phase III, GOG Study # 184, Activated 7/3/00

 

Eligibility Requirements:

 

Disease Characteristics

 

            Advanced endometrial carcinoma, of any histology including clear cell and serous papillary carcinomas

 

            Surgical Stage III and IV disease

 

Prior/Concurrent Therapy

 

            Surgery including hysterectomy and BSO (pelvic and para-aortic node sampling optional)

 

            Tumor maximally debulked to maximum residual diameter £ 2 cm

 

            Registration and radiation initiated within 6 weeks after surgery

 

            No prior pelvic or abdominal radiation therapy

 

            No prior chemotherapy

 

            No disease outside of the abdomen and no parenchymal liver metastases

 

            No recurrent disease

 

Patient Characteristics

 

           Performance status 0-2 (ambulatory, capable of self care, up at least 50% of waking hours)

 

           No concomitant malignancy other than non-melanoma skin.  Prior malignancy okay if disease-free >5 years

 

           No history of serious co-morbid illness that would preclude protocol

 

           Survival at least three months
