Ribbons for Research
The pink ribbon symbolizes breast cancer awareness. The
aim of the “Ribbons For Research” fund-raising project is to
increase awareness of the disease and to help provide necessary
funds for breast cancer research. ALL proceeds from the sale of
the decals will go to the Breast Cancer Clinic at the Kansas
University Medical Center.

Against Cancer
Kansas
Masonic Foundation, Inc.
The Kansas
Freemasons, through the Kansas Masonic Foundation, Inc., have
generously donated more than $4.9 million for cancer research and
education programs at the Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute since their
initial funding of the KU Medical Center Oncology Program in 1974.
Basic and clinical research programs currently receiving support
include prostate cancer, clinical trials, high-risk breast
cancer/basic science infrastructure, environmental health programs
and the Don't Choke on Smoke© program designed
specifically to educate elementary school children about tobacco.
Stuff
A store
that offers original works from over 70 artists in the home
furnishings, gifts and fine arts categories. Stuff supports
the Susan Henke Miller Breast Cancer Research Fund at the Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute through "Wings of Hope," their annual holiday
open house dedicated to the fight to cure breast cancer.
Stuff is located in the Brookside Shops at 316 W. 63rd St., Kansas
City, MO.
Susan’s
Angels
Local artist Jan Bryan-Hunt has created a series of angels in honor of her friend,
Susan Henke Miller, a cancer survivor who was diagnosed with
breast cancer in 1999. Proceeds support the Susan Henke
Miller Breast Research Fund at the
Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute.
Try
4 A Cure
Anne
Miller Kindscher first organized this annual fitness benefit in
1999 after learning her sister-in-law, Susan Henke Miller, had
been diagnosed with breast cancer. Each year, Prairie Life
Center, Overland Park, KS, waives their usual guest fee so the
public can participate in the event and make donations to the
Susan Henke Miller Breast Cancer Research Fund at the Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute.
Vin Kansas City
This group
of area wine enthusiasts have combined their love of fine wine,
excellent cuisine and good company with their concern for funding
cancer research to produce fundraising events to benefit the
Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute. Tastevin, a wine dinner and
auction, is held in October. This year, a two-day wine event
co-sponsored with the Sonoma County Wineries Association was held
in March. Highlights of the event included an
invitation-only wine tasting and dinner, as well as a public
tasting and silent auction. Click on the above link for more
information about this year's event!
