Examples of Current and Future Funding Needs

The Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute (KMCRI) is unique in the State of Kansas because it is an integral part of an " Academic Health Institution"—or a cornerstone of the American Health System. Our uniqueness is represented by the four interrelated activities of basic and clinical research, clinical care, education and service.

At the Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute, we are committed to our cancer patients and their families. We believe it is our obligation as scientists, physicians, and educators to constantly strive to seek new solutions to these diseases through laboratory and clinical investigations and to prepare our students—our legacy for the future—for the scientific and medical challenges they will face in the 21st century. Our mission is to expand our understanding of cancers so that we may prevent these diseases from developing—or to eradicate them once they have developed.

The Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute has a strong basic and clinical research component that enables our scientists to integrate their research findings at the laboratory bench with patient education and care. Our goal is to speed discoveries made at the lab bench to the bedside. But as we are all so keenly aware, these types of activities are extremely expensive to conduct.

The following list represents examples only of KMCRI’s current and future funding needs. Each need, whether it be in research, prevention, education or outreach—is real. And, each represents an essential component of the Kansas Masonic Cancer Research Institute’s effort to battle cancers.
