In its role as an academic medical center, KUMC balances the need for a relatively open technology architecture with the need to secure information resources against intrusion. The Information Security department works with system and network administrators across all KUMC entities to:
- Develop and maintain security policies and standard practices
- Monitor security threats and vulnerabilities
- Identify and implement solutions to protect KUMC resources
- Educate KUMC communities about security issues
- Facilitate security training
- Maintain incident response plan and coordinate response team
- Lead security committee (members include University, Hospital and KUPI representatives)
