Objectives On Hold

Educational support

  • ES-10: Appoint a Clinical Librarian responsible for working with faculty and students in School of Medicine year 3 and 4, School of Nursing clinical courses, and School of Allied Health clinical courses by August 2008. (KC)
  • ES-11: Develop a formal library liaison relationship with the School of Allied Health by August 2008. (KC)
  • ES-17: Work with KU Lawrence to integrate SAKU self-service functionality into the student portal. (JW)
  • ES-22: Revise cost estimates and prepare alternatives for expanding the Computer-Based Testing Center to accomodate the School of Medicine in a single seating (currently requires two seatings) with a view towards extending the CBTC in 2009. (KC, DA)

Research support

  • RS-3: Extend the desktop videoconferencing infrastructure including the possible adoption of new products and technologies; complete functional review by June 2009. (MF)
  • RS-11: Seek funding to implement the search application identified in RS-6. Work closely with stakeholders in the School of Medicine in particular to solve an identified need with the implementation of the search application. (KC)

Communication and collaboration

Administrative support

  • AS-6: Implement the New Hire Workflow module in PeopleSoft by June 2009. (JB)
  • AS-9: Using SharePoint Server, InfoPath, and MS Certificate Server, develop the creation and use of electronic forms and workflow including digital signature by spring 2009 (this objective depends on objectives CC-1, CC-2, and IA-1. (JW)
  • AS-11: Working with the School of Medicine’s Director of Finance and Accounting,  implement  integrated financial reporting from State, grant, KUEA, clinical, and other sources to enable (for example) reports of faculty compensation from all sources; department and school balance sheets incorporating all sources and uses; tracking of start-up funds for new faculty; and other similar reporting functionality.   • PC-1b: Implement Windows Vista incrementally beginning January 2008. (MF)

Network and Server Infrastructure

  • NSI-6: Implement Network Node Validation by July 2009. (MF)
  • NSI-7: Implement a formal Network Operations Center by June 2009. (MF)
  • NSI-8: Implement a comprehensive network management and monitoring tool suite by June 2009. (MF)

  • IS-4: Implement a “security event manager” to analyze and summarize the voluminous data we get from security logs (thus alerting us to potential security issues) sometime during FY2009. (SC)
  • IS-15: Develop an Application Database that tracks all applications running at KUMC under the responsibility of Information Resources.  It will include server references and interdependencies with other applications by June 30, 2008. (JW, SC)
