To use a University owned laptop at home you must have Internet access, a VPN account and be able to log on to the laptop. This document will assist you in making sure the device is configured properly and will walk you through the steps required to logon to the device.
Every University owned laptop uses McAfee Endpoint Encryption software to protect the data on the hard-drive. You must have an account on the laptop in order to log on. If you don’t have an account, or are unsure, contact Customer Support at (913) 588-7995.
If you have never logged on to the laptop or it has been more than 30 days, you should log on to the laptop while still on campus. Use an Ethernet cable (see picture below) for network access (wireless is not good enough). Try to log on to the computer. Use your network password at the log on screen.
If you can’t log on to the computer, wait 15 minutes, reboot the computer, and then try again. If you still can’t log on to the device, call Customer Support at (913) 588-7995.
You must have University VPN access. If you have already have VPN access you can skip this section. Note: Hospital VPN access is not sufficient.
You must have access to the Internet at home. A broadband connection such as a cable-modem or DSL is recommended.
