Identity Management

Identity Management (IdM) is a set of processes, and a supporting infrastructure, for the creation , maintenance, and use of digital identities (Burton Group).  The Identity Management unit was created to support Information Resources' identity management initiative.

The long term goal of Identity Management is to implement a connected data and workflow environment where identity data is entered only once (in the authoritative source system, PS HR/Pay and others) and then synchronized across campus wide data systems (using the Identity Vault and custom system interfaces) to enable information integration of these systems, to automate common business processes, to eliminate redundant data, and to improve the accuracy of the data.

We are designing and implementing processes that will accomplish the following upon an employee's entry into PS HR/Pay:

  • Automate network account generation
  • Automate email account generation
  • Automate the population of email groups
  • Update and maintain the HR ID badge system
  • Update and maintain the online phone directory
  • Update and maintain the library patron database
  • Facilitate telephone ordering transactions
  • Trigger a variety of orientation and training processes
