Supplemental Income:
Moonlighting and Kansas Locum Tenens Program
Vacations/Sick Leave/Extended Leave/Military Leave:
- Vacation: All PGY levels receive 3 weeks (15 business days) of vacation per year. This does not accumulate year to year. They can be taken in 1 or 2 week blocks at a time.
- Sick Leave: All PGY levels receive 2 weeks (10 business days) of sick leave per year. This does not accumulate year to year.
- Extended Leave: Three months of leave without pay for reasons of family or personal illness, serious health condition, disability, or the birth or adoption of a child. All stipend payments and benefits will be suspended during a leave of absence. Any leave without pay time taken may extend the completion date of a resident/fellows training program. In order to use the extended leave, you must use all your vacation and sick leave first.
- Military Leave: Twelve working days per year of military leave with pay for active duty for training purposes.

- Medical Knowledge Self Assessment Program (MKSAP) Print Version and Digital version purchased for all categorical residents during their intern year
- Access to digital MedStudy question bank
- Dykes Library access to electronic journals without subscription
- UPTODATE access throughout the hospital
- Alphanumeric pagers
- 24-hour access to resident lounge with large screen TV, computers, DVD player and snacks
- Access to free and confidential counseling services (including test preparation)
- Educational stipend for categorical residents for purchase of books, test fees (i.e. Step 3, ABIM boards):
- $300 for categorical interns
- $300 for PGY-2
- $600 for PGY-3
- Plus an additional $500 available for extra research expenses (i.e. to attend a conference that you are presenting a poster)
- One week for locum tenens or moonlighting with Program Director approval per year
- Student pricing for KU Basketball and Football Tickets (also able to buy football tickets for spouse)
