Christian Sinclair, MD

Title(s)
Volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine
Early interest in Geriatrics led to a firm foundation in Palliative Medicine, which was fostered during Dr. Sinclair’s Internal Medicine Residency.  A month rotation during his second year of residency encouraged the realization that one could practice Palliative Medicine as a career.  Having finished his palliative medicine fellowship, Dr. Sinclair has a great interest in education and making a proper balance between service and education.  He has been the Palliative Medicine Fellowship Director at Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care for 2 years, drawing on his own fellowship experiences and the many national and regional talks on end-of-life issues he gives.  Dr. Sinclair is also a graduate of the Harvard Palliative Care in Education and Practice Program and is the past chair of the Professionals-in-Training Special Interest Group for the AAHPM.  He keeps up to date on current literature in the hospice and palliative medicine field as co-editor of Pallimed, a blog focusing on end-of-life and education.
Areas of Interest:
Education in palliative medicine, methadone, the physiology of the terminal phase, the physician’s letter of condolence, lidocaine for neuropathic pain, alternate routes of drug administration, delivering difficult news, evidence-based symptom management, and prognostication.
