    1. Define target population and give an example.
    2. Probability sampling uses random selection. Define random and define probability sampling.
    3. Summarize the advantages of simple random sampling.
    4. Describe systematic random sampling.

    5. What is the major disadvantage of non probability sampling?
    6. Contrast a longitudinal study and a cross-sectional study. Give an example of each.
    7. A cohort study is a longitudinal study. What present cohort has been studied more than any other group?
    8. List factors that will be considered when a researcher determines sample size for a study.

  2. MEASUREMENT AND COLLECTION OF DATA

    1. Discuss the following levels of measurement and give an example of each.
      1. Nominal
      2. Ordinal
      3. Interval
      4. Ratio
    2. List the 5 important questions the researcher will ask regarding the data collection process.
    3. Why is it often advisable to conduct a pilot study before conducting the research study.
    4. What is meant by the reliability of a research instrument?(stability, equivalence, internal consistency)
    5. Define the following types of validity.
