Read all of the study questions.  Select one question from each group of questions to answer.  Type the answer in the box below.

  1. Identifying Nursing Research Problems

    1. What are the factors to consider when deciding on the subject or topic for a research study?
    2. Correlational problem statements and comparative problem statements examine more than one variable. Write two correlational statements and two comparative statements.
  2. Review of the Literature

    1. Why is it important to locate the primary source of a research study rather than secondary sources?
    2. If you were going to conduct a library search for a research study you are interested in persuing, how would you go about the search?
  3. Theory and Nursing Research

    1. Of the four conceptual models listed in your book, Orem, Rogers, Roy, and Neuman, which one might you choose to guide your practice and be a framework to conduct research? Discuss the reasons for your choice.
    2. If you prefer a different model you may choose it and explain the reasons for your choice.
  4. Hypotheses and Research Questions

    1. Review the criteria for writing a hypothesis,then write a hypothesis that you would like to support or reject.
    2. Qualitative studies and many descriptive studies do not test hypotheses but instead are guided by research questions. Write a research question that you would like to study.
