Florence Nightingale's History of
Research
KUMC's rare book library is fortunate to have many of Florence
Nightingale's original letters. They have copied these on the
internet.
Read and follow these steps to complete
the assignment. Then look at other areas of interest in the database.
- Once you have clicked on "KU Clendening Library Florence
Nightingale Letters" below, you can review her original
handwritten letter.
- Second, you will be able to click on alphabetical listings and
review that.
- Third, scan through these and select either: Lt. Colonel George
Higginson, Aug. 1857; Principal storekeeper, April, 1856; James Paget
(undated); Miss Lucked, June, 1893; Unknown (undated); Mrs. Roe, March
1878; or Charles Shrimpton, May 1862. Each has examples of her early
research.
- Fourth, type a few sentences into the discussion that briefly
describes the epidemiology data you obtained in your search on
Florence's internet pages.
