Course designed by Carol E. Smith, RN, PhD

Orientation to the Internet Teaching Methodology

This course will be taught using a variety of teaching methodologies on the internet. To learn research the instructor has set up readings and activities to assist you in the use of research information.

These activities may link you around the world through the internet.

Using the internet means learning to "navigate" by using the menu bar buttons. The menu buttons look like this:

This overview describes the learning activities required to move from critiquing research to applying findings in clinical areas with patients, families, communities and populations. The learning activities are designed for you to achieve the expected outcomes or objectives of the course. Remember to ask questions -- in the discussion -- throughout the semester for any details you may need. Use private e-mail to the instructor to ask about your own individual grade.

Dykes Library

You can even conduct computerized library searches.

And, of course, textbook readings and completion of readings from assigned textbooks (not necessarily those above) and journal articles you can access via the internet or the library.

You can use the KU School of Nursing Roadmap for orientation also.
