Mononucleosis S/S

• Monospot for heterophile antibody

  • Tends to be neg in young children
  • 90% will have pos by 3rd wk of illness

• CBC

  • > 50% lymphocytes
  • 10 - 20% atypical lymphs

• Also do strep screen/culture
