Course: NRSG 752 Theories for Practice II

Credit Hours: 2

Prerequisites: NRSG 750 or consent of instructor

Description:

Organizational, sociological, and cultural theories in relation to the internal and external environments of complex client systems are explored. Structural/functional, systems, economic, power, and/or other macrotheories may be included. Critical components of these theories are applied to issues of health and functioning of organizations, communities, cultural groups and society through assessment and proposed therapeutic interventions.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Discuss selected organizational, sociological and cultural theories as they relate to the internal and external environments of complex systems.
  2. Explore the extent to which selected theories have been used to guide research and/or policy development on the health functioning of complex client systems.
  3. Evaluate the relevance of selected theories for nursing practice with complex client systems.


Course: NRSG 753 Theories for Practice II: Practicum

Credit Hours: 1

Prerequisites: Concurrent enrollment in NRSG 752

Description:

Selected organizational, sociological and cultural theories are applied in practice to the analysis of health and functioning of complex client systems.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Use selected theories to focus observations and assessment and formulate therapeutic interventions for complex client systems.
  2. Formulate researchable questions on identified problems of the complex client system using a selected theory.
