Subacute Thyroiditis
Self-limiting inflammation of thyroid
Thought to be viral (prodomal URI)
Transient Thyrotoxicosis followed by hypothyroid phase resolving in 6 mos
S/S: pain in thyroid area, radiates to jaw or ear, malaise, low-grade fever
Tx: Symptomatic: ASA, steroid if severe
