Grave’s Disease Treatment
Monitor FTI and T3 levels q 4 to 6 wks
Euthyroidism usually within 12 wks -- begin decreasing dose
Mtce doses: PTU = 50 - 200 mg qd, Tapazole = 5 - 10 mg qd. F/U q 3 mos
Remission rates 10 - 90%; X = 50% after 1 yr. LT remission incr. with tx 1 - 2 yrs
