A group of students, faculty, and staff are joining with Good Natured Family Farms to start a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) on campus. Purchasing a subscription for the 2012 season (late May through September) offers you, and your family, a bag of local, seasonal, organic food to be picked up on campus each Tuesday (May 29 - Sept 25). The variety of fresh vegetables, fruit, bread, and animal products (pasture-raised meat, dairy, and eggs) come from over 160 farms within a 200 mile radius of Kansas City vary each week. Among other benefits, joining a CSA is a great way to try new foods, eat healthfully, and help the environment.
We invite you to a lunch event to learn more about this amazing opportunity for all students and employees at KUMC. In G013 SON Auditorium on February 16th from Noon-1p, the leaders of Good Natured Family Farms will give a presentation about what they are offering, discuss the logistics of payment and delivery, and be available to answer questions and address your concerns. Food, Mr. Goodcents, will be served for the first 150 attendees. Please Pre-Register. We hope to see you then!

The HR-PDFA Wellness Series presents “When to turn to a Mentor” with Marty McLaughlin. There is much ado about mentoring on campus when it comes to career development for junior faculty members, and Marty is the person in the School of Medicine's Office of Professional Development and Faculty Affairs (PDFA) who is busy helping the various departments put their programs together. Mentoring is not just for faculty members. Mentoring is for anyone, at any level, looking for advice and guidance on how best to accomplish a task, learn a new skill, handle a job/life related problem or handle a job assignment without the education or training behind them. Mentoring skills are the same regardless of the field of work; it is the outcome or what the mentee is trying to achieve which drives the goals of the mentorship. In her fourth career decade, she will share how mentors have helped her succeed in various fields and jobs where her training left off. Join Marty McLaughlin for an interactive discussion about:
