Tuition Reimbursement Program
The University of Kansas Medical Center, like other state agencies, is
authorized by Kansas's statute (K.S.A. 75-5519) to provide tuition assistance to full-time
state employees who meet the eligibility requirements of the program.
Eligibility Requirements
Any state employee (faculty or staff) of the Medical Center who
has been employed full-time at least 6 months continuously prior to the application deadline
and has a satisfactory history of performance and conduct is eligible to apply for tuition
assistance. An employee must remain a full-time employee for the duration of the course. (A
full-time employee is one who works 72-80 hours within a two-week period.) Departmental
transfers do not effect eligibility.
Tuition assistance is awarded for credit courses. Preference will be given to employees
pursuing a formal education. Priority will be in the following descending order: GED,
associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees. Employee's length of service will
also be considered.
Maximum Amount Awarded
The maximum amount of assistance awarded to an employee in any given
semester is currently $200.00/semester. Assistance is awarded for approved courses which enhance
the employee's performance in his/her present position and professional development.
Assistance is awarded for tuition only. The employee will be reimbursed the amount
awarded upon successful completion of the approved course(s) and submitting the
required documents.
Application Process
Deadline: Spring 2010 - December 14, 2009
