In a spirit of appreciation and honor, IR declared the Week of May 5th-9th as Geek Week. They organized a series of events that celebrate the geeks and nerds who predominantly staff the technical ventures in most organizations.
Monday, May 5th: Geeko de Mayo.
IR hosted chips and salsa breaks from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 6th: Geek and a Movie.
Showing of the movie Sneakers.
IR supplied the popcorn and candy; nerds and geeks supplied the beverage.
IR had a Top Geek Contest, where they came dressed in their nerdiest attire. See above pics. Tina Galbiati (far left) won Top Geek. Her prize was a 7" Portable DVD Player.
Wednesday, May 7th: The Geek Sophisticate.
IR staff joined in the Courtyard Cafe space between 2:00 and 3:00 PM for a break with
some snacks from around the world. One of the snack suggestions came from Sai
and it's called a samosa.
Thursday, May 8th: Jay-Geek Day.
IR staff wore their best Jayhawk attire or colors. Their bosses stopped by with a treat.
Friday, May 9th: Geek-Luck Day.
IR staff brought
pot-luck dessert items to the Courtyard Cafe area between 2:00 and 3:00 PM. Brownies,
pies, a Kit-Kat bar, etc.
