What is it?
The Bridge Program is a hospital based domestic violence advocacy program. The purpose of this program is to link victims of domestic violence to area domestic violence resources. The Bridge Program is funded by a VAWA grant through the Kansas Attorney General's Office.

Who can access the Bridge Program?
Bridge services are available to hospital, medical center and KUPI employees, students, and patients at KUMC.

What can I expect from the Bridge Advocate?
When an employee recognizes the need for domestic violence services, or a patient's domestic violence relationship has been identified and the patient voluntarily accepts Bridge services, a bridge advocate will meet with the client at the hospital. The advocate will offer support and education on domestic violence. All services are confidential. Services offered:

• safety planning
• shelter options
• protection from abuse orders
• legal clinic
• outreach services
• follow-up

How do I contact the Bridge Advocate?
The full-time Bridge Advocate, Monica Cierra-Mayberry, is available Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Her office is located in the Emergency Department. She can be reached by phone at 913-588-1012, or by pager at 816-818-4001. To contact the after-hours advocate, call 816-861-6100.
