Annual (Vacation) Leave

Classified & Unclassified Healthcare

Vacations are granted to classified employees with the approval of the supervisor, providing adequate vacation hours have accrued. Vacation hours for part-time employees are prorated according to the percentage of time worked. The maximum vacation accruals for all classified employees is 304 hours (38 days). Classified employees will be paid for all vacation hours accumulated up to 176 hours (22 days) upon termination of employment and up to 240 hours (30 days) if retirement eligible upon termination of employment.

Provisions of K.S.A. 2006 Supp 76-715b (popularly known as Section 6 of S.B. 375) were recommended for implementation beginning in FY 2009 to increase annual leave accrual among classified employees per below. Because the maximum has been increased, the provision to convert up to 40 hours vacation to sick leave is no longer in effect.
