Classified Annual Leave - change in policy effective FY 09


The Board of Regents recently approved enhancing annual leave accruals for university classified employees. This change will be effective FY 09. In addition to the change in accruals, other changes were approved in order to maintain consistency with the current policy for annual leave accruals for unclassified professional staff:

  • Cap on annual leave accumulation at 304 hours with no opportunity to convert excess annual leave to sick leave.
  • Payout of annual leave will be 176 hours at termination of employment and 240 hours at termination of employment when retirement eligible.

Provisions of K.S.A. 2006 Supp 76-715b (popularly known as Section 6 of S.B. 375) will be recommended for implementation beginning in FY 2009 to increase annual leave accrual among classified employees as follows:
