Governor Parkinson has designated the following holidays for the state service in calendar year 2010.

It is the intention of the holiday regulation that all full-time employees in regular positions who are entitled to holidays receive credit for a holiday, and that partial credit be given to part-time employees who are entitled to holidays in accordance with K.A.R. 1-9-2 and Division of Personnel Services Bulletin 98-01. Unclassified and classified personnel shall be entitled to such other special holidays as may be declared by the Governor. Classified employees and unclassified non-exempt employees required to work on such holidays shall be afforded compensatory time or compensation at the rate of one and one-half time for each hour worked. Unclassified exempt staff who accrue annual leave and who are required to work on any listed or special holiday shall be afforded equivalent time off at a later date.

Unclassified and classified personnel within the state university system who accrue annual leave shall be entitled to one additional holiday per year to be taken at their discretion, subject to the advance approval of the individual's administrative supervisor.

When a legal holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is the officially observed holiday. If a legal holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday is the officially observed holiday (K.A.R.1-9-2).
