holidays in accordance with K.A.R. 1-9-2 and Division of Personnel Services
Bulletin 98-01. Unclassified and classified personnel shall be entitled to such
other special holidays as may be declared by the Governor. Classified employees
and unclassified non-exempt employees required to work on such holidays shall be
afforded compensatory time or compensation at the rate of one and one-half time for
each hour worked. Unclassified exempt staff who accrue annual leave and who are
required to work on any listed or special holiday shall be afforded equivalent
time off at a later date.
Unclassified and classified personnel within the state university system who
accrue annual leave shall be entitled to one additional holiday per year to be
taken at their discretion, subject to the advance approval of the individual's
administrative supervisor.
When a legal holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is the officially
observed holiday. If a legal holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday is
the officially observed holiday (K.A.R.1-9-2).
