Printing Over the Network Using TCP/IP

Open Sherlock (or find-file) to search for the "Deskop Printer Utility." Double-click on the "Desktop Printer Utility" within the sherlock or find-file window.*

Once the Desktop Printer Utility is open you will see the following choices. Select "Printer (LPR)," then click "OK."

Click on the top "Change..." icon to select your printer from a list.

For this example, we choose the LaserWriter 16/600. You should choose your printer. If your printer is not listed you can either download the drivers from the Internet, or select "Generic" which allows basic printing functions on most Macintosh compatible printers.

Click on the bottom "Change..." button to enter the TCP/IP name for the printer.

Type the TCP/IP name into the "Printer Address" field. Alternately, type the actual IP address of the printer into this field.

* If you cannot find the desktop printer utility, you will need to get and install LaserWriter software 8.6 which can be found on CC Public Domain, Printer Drivers, LaserWriters, LaserWriter 8, MacOS 7.6->8.5, LaserWriter 8.6.
