HIT and HIE Privacy and Security Toolkit for Consumers in Rural Kansas

The URAC issue briefing reports on November 3rd 2008, that " A study by the Markle foundation found that while 88 percent of Americans say online health records are important in reducing health care costs, nearly as many (80 percent) say they are very concerned about identity theft, fraud or the possibility their information will get into the hands of marketers".

The resources below are useful for consumers, consumer educators or those seeking to engage consumers. Materials are being selected with the Kansas rural consumers as the target audience. Inclusion of materials in this toolkit was based on inclusion and aligned with the findings in the Kansas summary report- Click for "Kansas Rural Consumers Health Information Technology (HIT) Needs and Preference Summary Report".
