New Clinical Staff

Carol Gustafson, MSW

Education: University of Kansas- Master's in Social Work.

Before joining the staff of the Department of Family Medicine, Ms. Gustafson worked 10 years in the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services; her work included 3 years in Adult Services and 7 years in Children and Family Services in a variety of social work roles. She was Director of Community Concern for Village Church in Prairie Village, KS. for 8 years managing the church's large emergency assistance program as well as the community outreach grants program and the activities of 300 volunteers, and has served on many non-profit boards including Mid-America Assistance, Johnson County United Community Services, Project Equality and the Mother to Mother program. Carol says "Working in the Family Medicine Clinic is an opportunity to work with patients, one at a time, by listening to their concerns; sharing information which can help them and encouraging them as they face a variety of life challenges. My passion is helping others in direct service and advocacy work."

Ruth Stricklen Pullins, MA, Department Administrator
Previously administrator for the department of Rehabilitation Medicine, she now combines that role with her current position. She has over 10 years experience in management and financial operations. Her educational background is focused on human resources and organizational communication. She has a masters degree from the University of Kansas and has received Human Resource certification from the National Society of Human Resource Management.

Michelle Leeson, MSN, BSN, RN, Clinic Manager

Michelle received her BSN from Washburn University and an MSN in administration from KU. She has been serving as the Family Medicine Clinic Manager since 1998. Prior to working in our clinic Michelle worked in the hospital setting as a clinical director, nurse educator and a staff nurse.
