Dr. Vail serves as both Vice-Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Residency Director for the Family Medicine Residency Program. She has a very busy clinical practice, including maternity care and inpatient care, and teaches residents and students in all these settings. She is Medical Director for both Community Living Opportunities, a residential facility for developmentally disabled adults, and SACEK, the Substance Abuse Center of Eastern Kansas. She teaches extensively in the medical school curriculum, in ICM-Clinical Skills, Pathology correlations, and the Family Medicine clerkship. In CME, she is the Director of the Kansas City Board Review Course sponsored by the AAFP, and lectures extensively at a variety of programs around the country. Dr. Vail received the Rainbow Award from the Class of 2003, and the Nason Family Award for Excellence in Teaching in Family Medicine in 2005.
