Biography

Katherine Giele, Assistant Director for Programs at the Kansas Union in the 1960s and 70s, helped shape the University of Kansas’ Student Union Activities and the direction of the Union.  She also served as Secretary for the Kansas Memorial Corporation.

Ms. Giele served on many national committees in the area of student programming.  In 1972, she served as Coordinator on the Arts for Region II (Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma) of the Association of College Unions-International.  In 1973, she led the Committee on the Arts for the Association of College Unions-International.  With this position, she was responsible for assisting member schools develop their own college union activities groups.  Additionally, she was a member on the University of Kansas Arts Council.  She was very influential in affecting entertaining and educational program for KU students and guiding young student leaders.
