Grant Title: Phenotypic screen in mouse embryonic stem cells for TGF-beta signaling mutations
Focus of Project: The purpose of this project was to develop methods which utilize chemical mutagens, mitotic recombination and a TGF-beta-responsive reporters to identify mutations in mouse embryonic stem cells which affect TGF-beta signaling on mouse chromosome 18.

Grant Title: Control of Vasculogenesis of the Embryonic Dorsal Aorta by Signaling from the Definitive Endoderm
Focus of Project: The purpose of this project is to understand the signaling that directs vasculogenesis of the embryonic dorsal aorta. Mutant and transgenic mouse lines will be used to test the hypothesis that a secreted signal from the definitive endoderm in the early mouse embryo is required for specific aspects of vascular differentiation of the paraaortic endothelia.
