The curriculum is based on a 24 credit hour sequence designed to offer a
foundation in  patient-oriented research over two years with three areas of
concentration, or “tracks”; patient-oriented mechanistic research, clinical
epidemiology and health services research (see table below).  Trainees will
have the option of completing an MPH or MSPH degree as well.  All trainees
will complete a 15 hour required core sequence including biostatistics,
epidemiology, advanced biostatistics, computer software for data
management and analysis, grant writing, scientific writing and responsible
conduct of research.  Trainees will also select at least three electives from
one of the three tracks.   Participants have the option of completing an MPH*
with an additional 12 credit hours or an MHSA with an additional 30 hours,
during or after the two year Curriculum training period.  The formal course
framework also provides options for transitional investigators to enroll in
specific higher level electives as needed.
