Excel 2003 Training

Jeff Lewis, trainer from KU main campus came over to conduct these more advanced classes.
  Excel 2003: Data Management Learn to use Excel as a database. Topics covered are: Sorting a data list; Filtering a data list according to criteria; Extracting data list information;  Using the subtotal function; Adjusting the spreadsheet windows.  
Excel 2003: Functions and Data Analysis This workshop focuses on the functions and data analysis tools of Excel. Topics included are: Terms related to using functions; Creating and editing functions using the Insert Function Utility; Loadable Add-in modules; Data analysis with the Data Analysis Toolpak, including Histogram and conditional sum; Creating and modifying pivot tables; Formula troubleshooting.  
Excel 2003: Charting This workshop covers how to use Excel to create and edit charts, modify chart options, and format chart objects, as well as use trendlines, forecasts, and error bars to present data graphically.

This hands on training will introduce the features and basic commands of Excel 2003. Participants learn to: create and save workbooks; select, copy and move data; create formulas using relative and absolute references, format worksheets, and options for printing.

Access 2003: Queries The focus of this workshop is on extracting specific records using queries and creating and utilizing pivot tables/pivot charts for data analysis. Participants will learn how to: Create and run a select query to display data from one or more related tables; sort data in a query; add criteria to a query to display specific records and create pivot tables and charts using query data
Access 2003: Forms - Access Forms are an excellent way for users of a database to add or modify data. By using forms for data entry, a database designer can validate and control the data that enters a database as well as create an "easier" method of data input. Additionally, forms can be used as a navigation object, or Switchboard, to direct a database user to the different areas of a database, even if the user has never used Access. In this workshop, participants will learn how to: Create a form from a table or query using AutoForm Create a form from a table or query using the Form Wizard Create a form directly in the Design View Modify a form in Design View Add subforms for records in a form Sort and filter records in a form Format controls conditionally.
Access 2003: Reports - Access Reports allow you to analyze the data you have collected in your database using calculations, sorting and grouping techniques, and print them in an organized format. Understanding, creating, and enhancing reports is the primary goal of this workshop. Participants will discover a variety of ways to: Create a report from a table or query using AutoReport; Create a report from a tabel or query using the Report Wizard; Create and modif in the Design View using the tools from the Formatting and Toolbox toolbars; Add grouped sections and sort fields in reports; Create calculated controls in reports.

Images can make learning more engaging and support learners’ preferred style of learning. Multimedia (including images) can increase learner’s retention and recall of the topic. In this presentation we will discuss how graphics can support or depress learning. The discussion will include: •What are the communication and psychological functions of graphics? •How do we load images into our online instruction in Angel? •How do we find and use images using the KUMC provided databases? •What are the copyright issues? •How do we use images from text books? •If the images are used on the Internet what are the Accessibility issues?
