Office of Compliance

Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance

Welcome

Dear Faculty and Staff:

The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) has enjoyed unprecedented growth in our clinical and research endeavors in recent years. Even amidst this tremendous growth we have retained a strong commitment to quality-including an unwavering adherence to the highest legal and ethical standards. To facilitate this commitment we have invested in the creation of a comprehensive, integrated Office of Compliance. I have charged this office with the responsibility of assuring we meet or exceed the federal and state requirements in the areas of Basic Sciences, Animal and Human Research, Equal Opportunity, HIPAA and Environmental and Radiation Safety.

The success of our compliance efforts depends on the cooperation of all KUMC employees. We must take the initiative to review the standards, to develop an understanding of the obligations of our individual job duties and to actively participate in the compliance training programs that are conveniently offered throughout the year.

When we make compliance a priority, we contribute to a culture of excellence. I appreciate all of your efforts on behalf of the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Sincerely,

Barbara Atkinson, M.D.
Executive Vice Chancellor
