Landon Center on Aging Human Performance Laboratory

The Human Performance Laboratory of the Landon Center on Aging at the University of Kansas Medical Center is dedicated to advancing the understanding of motor function through interdisciplinary research and education.  Our primary focus is the study of age related changes in mobility, which includes the study of healthy elderly as well as those with age related pathologies.

The Human Performance Lab is equipped to provide quantitative analysis of motor performance.  Several ongoing projects use these capabilities for:

  • Gait analysis
  • Evaluation of movement from a sitting position to standing
  • Balance/Postural Stability evaluation and training
  • Isokinetic and Isometric strength of the ankle and knee
  • Hand kinematics during a grasping task
  • Fingertip force regulation

Collaborations exist with researchers from various departments at the University of Kansas.  We invite collaborative relationships and encourage interested researchers to contact lab staff.
